The Grand Budapest Hotel Fan Art
The Grand Budapest Hotel Fan Art
I'm a big fan of Wes Anderson and I always like watching his movies over and over again (Moonrise Kingdom, Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox). And this autumn, after rewatching The Grand Budapest Hotel, I wanted to draw something.
I started with my most challenging idea - painting the Hotel with acrylics. I used the movie poster as a reference picture. I wanted to make the Hotel more cartoonish, without too many realistic details. So, the painting turned out quite quirky and vibrant.
There are many interesting characters in The Grand Budapest Hotel, each with their own identities and stories. For my small fanart project, I chose two main characters, Monsieur Gustave and Zero, plus Agatha, a baker at Mendl's bakery. I tried to draw characters in my own visual style, focusing primarily on the shape of faces and emotions.
Below you’ll also find my drawing process of Mendl's Delivery Truck on my new TikTok page.
Art supplies I used. 1. SMLT Art Drawing Pad (290 gsm, A4) 2. Winsor & Newton Galeria Acrylics 3. Derwent colored pencils (wax-based) 4. Derwent Sketching Paper (165 gsm, A4) 5. Mars Lumograph drawing pencils (by Staedtler)
I hope you like my interpretation of the movie's characters and M. Gustave's hotel. I’d love to hear your thoughts and see your emoji 💓 - so be sure to leave a comment down below.
Thank you for watching!
